I am recruiting graduate students during the 2026-2027 cycle. Interested prospective students should reach out by email in the fall and include their CV, a one-paragraph description of past research experience, and a one-paragraph description of future research interests. Current funded graduate openings (RA) include projects on field, remote sensing, and modeling of fluxes in deltas. I am also always on the lookout for students interested in delta laboratory experiments.
Opportunity 1: We have ongoing NASA-funded projects related to remote sensing and field observations of hydrologic connectivity in North Slope, Alaska river and delta systems. We seek to understand how hydrologic connectivity changes seasonally, interannually, and between systems, and how this impacts fluxes of water and sediments from the rivers, through the deltas, and out to the coast.
Opportunity 2: We have an ongoing NASA-funded project through the SWOT Science Team to model water and sediment transport in global deltas. There is some flexibility in the work completed but it should make critical use of SWOT and other remote sensing data and integrate these observations with network-based models to better understand delta flux partitioning globally. Students interested in this opportunity do not need previous modeling experience, though it may be helpful, but prior python experience is required.
I do not have any funding for postdocs at this time. Prospective postdocs who are interested in writing fellowship proposals (e.g., NSF) should reach out by email.
