NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

For aspiring or first year graduate students. Please contact me to talk about your interests and develop your proposal. Application deadline typically in the fall.

NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

For aspiring or current postdoctoral researchers. Please contact me to talk about your interests and develop your proposal. Application deadline typically in the fall.

NASA Graduate Fellowships

For aspiring or current graduate students interested in NASA-relevant research. The FINESST program provides up to three years of graduate support. Please contact me to talk about your interests and develop your proposal. Application deadline typically in February.

DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowships

For aspiring or first year graduate students interested in computational research. Includes a 12-week practicum at a national lab.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships

For aspiring or current graduate students interested in DoD-relevant research. Application deadline typically in November.

External Internship Opportunities

Student Undergraduate Laboratory Internships

Paid internships at National Laboratories for current undergraduates and recent graduates within two years of degree. There are fall, spring, and summer terms with May, October, and January deadlines, respectively. Fall and spring terms are 16 weeks, while summer is 10 weeks.

DOE Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program

This program supports undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Minority Serving Institutions to conduct paid summer internships at a national lab. This requires a short project proposal from a lab scientist in September/October for the following summer, with student applications due in January. Students can apply to any of the posted internship opportunities on Zintellect.

DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program

For PhD students who’ve already passed their qualifiers with DOE-relevant research and interest in spending time at a national lab. Either the student must be currently funded by an Office of Science grant or the proposed research must fall into one of several priority research areas, which change year to year and are listed on the website. Funding for 3-12 months with application deadlines in November and May.
